Dish

Another fantastic birthday dinner of classic comfort food and tasty desserts at Dish. I have never eaten anything in my life quite so delicious as the cheddar strudel on the apple crisp.  I must learn how to make it!

The Sixth Anniversary of My 29th Birthday

The last few days have been a little up and down so in keeping with my brand new philosophy of faking it til I make it I am only going to focus on the fantastic family dinner I just had with some of the people I love most in the whole world.  Oh, and presents!

Rolling Along

Tonight is weigh in night so that means another exciting picture of a digital scale readout.  Oh, well, at least the number keeps going down.

So for those of you keeping score at home that's 3.5 pounds this week for a grand total of 22.6 pounds.  I'm sneaking up on that 28 pound mark slowly but surely.

Apple Harvest (This Post Does Not Contain Pictures of Apples)

Spent some time at the Southington Apple Harvest festival with family.  My origami boxes were for sale at my Aunt Kathy's craft table but sadly I don't think too many (if any of them) went.  Anyway, here are a couple of pictures from the festival:

What the Day May Bring You

Today I went out into the world with a truly open mind.  I received a surprise refund check for 15.00 from my old therapist's office so with a spring in my step I headed to the ATM to deposit it so I could buy a bucket of Diet Pepsi and a pack of Parliament 100's.  Well that check led me to meet a fantastic man named Dominic who served in the Navy in World War II had lost his two twin brothers to cancer, was a widower after 54 years of marriage, and who has a House-like fetish for cool canes.  (He made the top of the one he was using today out of an old doorknob.)  He was also gracious enough to let me take his picture so long as I promised to mail him a copy.  Ladies and gentlemen, here's Dominic:

Mill Pond Falls

Beautiful fall day in New England and finally water flowing from the waterfall at Mill Pond Park.

Missing Him

There is really no explanation needed unfortunately...

Cathryn and the Giant Nectarine

No, really, that's it, just me and the hugest nectarine I've ever seen in my life.

Killin' It

So remember after last week's weigh in that I only needed to lose about half a pound to be halfway to my first major weight loss goal? Well I didn't lose half a pound this week, I lost

5.5 pounds!!!!!
Bringing my total weight loss to 19.1 pounds and less than ten pounds away from my first major goal!
By the way, the clothing pictures will be returning soon so you can better visualize my progress.

Nothing Like Old Friends

My friends Amy LaChance, esquire and Brian Moylan, world famous reality TV blogger are not old, we just go way back.  It was great (and perfect timing) to see them today and then chauffeur Mr. Moylan to the train station.  Here are some highlights from the afternoon/early evening.

My Universe

Sorry kids, no photos today(I lost my memory card reader) so instead you are stuck with my wonerfully sappy poetry.  Good night...

Jupiter

Staring at Jupiter, smoking a cigarette
Going home tomorrow, wonder what I will get
Waiting for the phone to ring
I turn on the radio and try to sing
The distance to Jupiter may seem far
But it's close compared to how far apart we are
Astronauts can fly to an outer space station
But we can't get back to our time of elation
So much beauty in this night sky
So much worry that tomorrow I'll cry
To see your face and hopefully a smile
I have missed you all this while
I hope tonight you look to the planet so bright
And my coming home tomorrow will feel right

Healing Hands

These are the amazing hand of my favorite physical therapist, Scott.  Sorry Nina and John I love you guys too.  Scott actually first planted the seed in my head that grew into my participation in the 100 Days 2010 last year.  So not only has he healed me, he's inspired and motivated me.
